Wish I was Here

Wish I was Here

I think the title says it all...Wish I was Here. That’s all I can think about when I look at this scene. The beach, water, sky and tree create such incredible beauty in such a simple way. I love this scene. I spent most of the day right here in this spot. It almost didn't seem real and yes the water really is that color! One of my favorite image I have taken, so much so that I have it hanging in my bedroom to always remind me of this perfect place.

Gibney Beach Palms Panoramic

Gibney Beach Palms Panoramic

Finding this grove of palms was dream come true. Gibeny Beach is not heavily trafficked by most tourist because it is relatively inaccessible. When you think of a lush tropical beach this is what you think of. This place was a new discovery for me on my last trip to St John. Probably my new favorite place in St John.

It was nearing sunset and the palms were bathing in the beautiful afternoon sun. I decided to take this using an infrared modified camera and get a different interpretation of this stunning landscape. I step out into the bay in waist deep water to capture this. The image is composed of 25 different images that have been stitched together. The is an incredible about of detail because of this. It would look amazing as a huge print!

Out over the emerald waters of the Gulf of Mexico America's lays the most inaccessible National Park, Fort Jefferson. This small island is 70 miles west of Key West, Florida, accessible only by boat make the surrounding water pristine. It is a stunning place to visit and I was lucky enough to be there on this incredible day. Walking around the island I saw these to snorkelers that just made for this simple composition against the beautiful water.

Borobudur Sunrise

Borobudur Sunrise

Borobudur Temple a truly remarkable place. 4am wake up to get here before the sunrise. To my surprise the were quite a few other photographers here and a camera club from Korea too! I was a bit upset because they had taken up many of the good positions. I struggle to find a nice shot to set up. This one was minutes after the sun rose above the temple. The haze was killing me here, shooting just about straight into the sun. A 3 shot HDR was the only way to pull this off.

Illumimango

Illumimango

On the grounds of the Caneel Bay Resort there sits this huge mango tree in an open field of grass. I had been eyeing this spot for a few days waiting for the right time of day to capture the presence of this beautiful tree. It happen to be dead noon, the photographers worst time of day to take pictures. The light was incredibly harsh and contrasty, but captured through my infrared modified camera, brought this stunningly beautiful tree to life. It almost looks like mother nature just turned on the lights.

Palms at Maho

Palms at Maho

This has to be one on the most idyllic beaches I have ever been to. The place is just stunning to be in. My wife and I had found a spot here in the late afternoon to watch the sun go down and take in the beauty. I waded out into the bay and look back seeing this group of palm trees sitting right on the beach. It could resist getting my camera and capturing this scene.
